Train derailed at Rajshahi station, disrupting rail services
A coach of the Banalata Express derailed at Rajshahi Railway Station, causing a disruption in train services on the Rajshahi–Chapainawabganj route. However, no injuries were reported.
The derailment took place around 7:00am on Monday (May 5) at Rajshahi Railway Station.
According to station sources, the Banalata Express departed Chapainawabganj at 6:00 am. Upon arriving at Rajshahi Station around 7:00 am, a loud noise was heard, and it was later found that a wheel of the 'Tha' coach had derailed.
Efforts are currently underway to recover the derailed coach.
Shahidul Islam, Manager of Rajshahi Railway Station, said, "The incident occurred as the train was entering the station. A wheel of the 'Ttha' coach burst. Recovery work is underway, and we hope to clear the train shortly. All other intercity trains have departed on schedule, with only one local train on the Chapainawabganj route facing delays."
